Product Description
Shock Absorbing IXPP Foam for Floor Underlay Applications
EKKOFLEX's IXPP (Irradiation Cross-Linked Polypropylene) foam is a shock absorbing closed cell insulation material purpose-built for floor underlay applications. It is manufactured from polypropylene, foaming agent, and functional additives through melt mixing and extrusion molding, then undergoes green and healthy ion radiation cross-linking, and is finally formed through continuous high-temperature foaming into an independent closed-cell structure.
With a closed-cell rate of over 98%, IXPP foam delivers excellent cushioning, rebound, and impact resistance while maintaining low water absorption and low water vapor permeability. Compared with conventional PE or EVA underlay foams, it offers superior resilience, dimensional stability, and moisture resistance, making it the preferred underlay choice for residential, commercial, and sports flooring projects.
Key Features
- Superior Shock Absorption - Excellent resilience, good cushioning and shock absorption, and outstanding impact resistance, reducing fatigue and improving floor comfort.
- Impact Noise Reduction - Effectively dampens footstep and impact noise transmission between floors, contributing to quieter living and working spaces.
- High Closed-Cell Rate (>98%) - Independent closed-cell structure with low water absorption and low water vapor permeability, protecting floor boards from dampness and warping.
- Thermal Insulation - Low thermal conductivity (<0.036 W/m·K) keeps floors warmer in winter and cooler in summer, improving indoor energy efficiency.
- Excellent High-Temperature Resistance - Maximum service temperature of 120°C with good thermal stability and dimensional stability at high temperature, compatible with underfloor heating systems.
- Eco-Friendly & Safe - Environmentally friendly and harmless, with low odor and minimal VOC emissions, safe for indoor use.
- Superior Processing Performance - Can be compounded, die-cut, thermoformed, and vacuum-formed, and supports adhesive backing for easy floor installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q1: How does IXPP foam absorb shock under flooring?
A: The independent closed-cell microcellular structure of IXPP foam compresses elastically under load, absorbing impact energy and distributing pressure evenly. The irradiation cross-linking process enhances cell wall strength, so the foam recovers its original thickness after repeated loading without permanent deformation. - Q2: How much impact noise can this underlay reduce?
A: Depending on thickness and floor construction, IXPP underlay can significantly reduce footstep impact noise transmission between floors, improving acoustic comfort in multi-storey buildings and apartments. - Q3: Is IXPP foam suitable for underfloor heating systems?
A: Yes. IXPP foam has a maximum service temperature of 120°C with good thermal and dimensional stability, making it compatible with underfloor heating while still providing insulation and cushioning. - Q4: Will the underlay flatten or lose cushioning over time?
A: No. Thanks to irradiation cross-linking, IXPP foam has excellent resilience and compression set resistance, maintaining its shock absorbing performance over many years of foot traffic, outperforming ordinary PE and EVA foams. - Q5: What thicknesses, widths, and colors are available?
A: Standard thickness ranges from 1mm to 6mm for single layer (up to 100mm multilayer), roll widths from 500mm to 1500mm, and standard colors are flesh and black with full color customization supported. Perforated and adhesive-backed versions are available on request.
