Product Description
Sound Absorption IXPP Thermal Insulation Foam for 5G Base Stations
EKKOFLEX IXPP thermal insulation foam is an irradiation cross-linked closed cell polypropylene (PP) foam roll developed for 5G base station applications. Manufactured from polypropylene through melt mixing, extrusion molding, green ion radiation cross-linking and continuous high-temperature foaming, the material forms an independent closed-cell structure with a closed-cell rate of over 98%.
Inside outdoor base station cabinets, remote radio units (RRU/AAU) and baseband units (BBU), this IXPP foam serves as a multifunctional lining layer: it thermally insulates the cabinet from solar heat gain, damps the noise and vibration of cooling fans and equipment, protects sensitive electronics from moisture and condensation, and reduces the overall weight added to the installation.
Key Features
- Thermal Insulation for Outdoor Cabinets - Low thermal conductivity (<0.036 W/m·K) reduces heat exchange between the cabinet and the outdoor environment, helping the active cooling system keep internal temperatures stable and improving energy efficiency.
- Sound Absorption & Acoustic Damping - The closed cell microcellular structure dissipates vibration energy and dampens fan and equipment noise, reducing noise transmission through cabinet panels and lowering the acoustic footprint of 5G sites in urban areas.
- Vibration Damping for Sensitive Equipment - The resilient foam layer isolates RRU/AAU, BBU and power modules from structure-borne vibration, protecting connectors and solder joints during operation and transport.
- Moisture & Condensation Barrier - With a closed-cell rate over 98% and water absorption as low as ≤2%, the foam prevents humidity and condensation from reaching boards, connectors and power supplies inside the cabinet.
- High Temperature Resistance & Dimensional Stability - Maximum continuous service temperature of 120°C with low thermal shrinkage ensures the insulation lining keeps its shape and thickness in hot climates and high-load operation.
- Lightweight & High Strength - Density from 33.3 to 200 kg/m³ provides firm, durable pads and liners while adding minimal weight to cabinets that are installed on towers, poles and rooftops.
- Customizable Processing - Supports die-cutting, slitting, adhesive backing and custom thickness, width and color, with cutouts for fans, connectors, cable entries and mounting points.
- Excellent Chemical Resistance - Better chemical corrosion resistance than other foam plastics, withstanding oils, solvents, salt spray and cleaning agents commonly found around outdoor telecom sites.
- Safer Combustion Characteristics - Compared with PS foam, IXPP releases no irritating gas during combustion, supporting safer material selection for telecom enclosures and indoor equipment rooms.

Product Q&A
- Q1: How does IXPP foam provide sound absorption for 5G base stations?
A: IXPP closed cell foam works as an acoustic damping and sound insulation layer. Its microcellular structure dissipates vibration energy, and when installed as cabinet lining or equipment pad it reduces fan noise transmission and structure-borne noise. For applications requiring broadband sound absorption, composite structures with additional absorption layers can be supplied on request. - Q2: How does the foam help the thermal management of outdoor cabinets?
A: With thermal conductivity below 0.036 W/m·K, the foam lining slows heat exchange between the cabinet shell and the internal equipment, reducing solar heat gain and helping fans and air conditioners maintain stable internal temperatures with lower energy consumption. - Q3: Which thickness and density are recommended?
A: Typical cabinet lining and equipment pads use 3-10mm thickness in medium to high density grades (about 50-200 kg/m³). Thicker pads provide more cushioning and acoustic damping; thinner high density pads suit tight assembly clearances. - Q4: Is the foam suitable for outdoor telecom environments?
A: Yes. The foam is moisture resistant (closed-cell rate >98%, water absorption ≤2%), dimensionally stable up to 120°C, and is normally installed inside weatherproof cabinets or enclosures where it is protected from direct UV exposure. - Q5: Can the lining be customized for cabinet design?
A: Yes. We die-cut foam pads with cutouts for fans, connectors, cable entries and mounting points, and can supply rolls, sheets or finished pads with or without adhesive backing, in custom thickness, width and color. - Q6: What certifications and order terms apply?
A: Products are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality management and comply with RoHS and REACH requirements. MOQ is 500 square meters, with samples available on request. Contact us for technical data sheets and wholesale pricing.
