Product Description

Waterproof Closed Cell PP Foam Roll & IXPP Foam Sheet for HVAC Insulation

Waterproof closed cell PP foam roll and IXPP foam sheet engineered for HVAC insulation applications. IXPP (physically cross-linked polypropylene) foam is produced through electron beam irradiation crosslinking and high-temperature foaming of polypropylene resin, delivering superior moisture resistance, thermal insulation, energy absorption, and dimensional stability for air ducts, chillers, and HVAC piping systems.

Key Features
  1. Waterproof & Moisture Resistant: Closed cell rate over 98%, water absorption ≤ 2% (GB/T1034), water vapor transmission rate < 0.05 g/(m²·24h) (ASTM E96), prevents condensation and mold on HVAC ducts.
  2. Thermal Insulation: Low thermal conductivity < 0.036 W/m·K, reduces HVAC energy loss and improves system efficiency.
  3. High Temperature Resistance: Maximum service temperature 120°C with good dimensional stability up to 130°C, low thermal shrinking rate.
  4. Acoustic Damping: Sound insulation ≥ 30 dB (ISO 10140-2) and damping factor 0.1-0.3, reducing duct-borne noise and vibration.
  5. Excellent Energy Absorption & Fatigue Resistance: Superior mechanical strength and rebound performance, ideal for vibration damping and long-term dynamic loading applications.
  6. Excellent Mechanical Properties: High tensile strength (≥ 3.5 MPa longitudinal) and elongation (≥ 320% longitudinal) per GB/T6344, easy to cut, fabricate and process.
  7. Low Odor & Safe: Low-odor, minimal VOC emissions, flame retardant UL94 HF-1, ISO 9001:2015, RoHS and REACH certified.

Q&A

Q1: What is IXPP foam?

IXPP foam, or physically cross-linked polypropylene foam, is a high-performance closed-cell material produced through electron beam irradiation crosslinking and high-temperature foaming of polypropylene resin. It offers excellent energy absorption, high temperature resistance, outstanding mechanical strength, and lightweight properties.

Q2: Why is IXPP foam ideal for HVAC insulation?

Its closed cell structure provides excellent waterproofing and moisture resistance, while low thermal conductivity (< 0.036 W/m·K) minimizes energy loss. Combined with flame retardancy (UL94 HF-1) and low VOC emission, it is a safe and efficient insulation choice for HVAC ducts and pipes.

Q3: What is the maximum service temperature of IXPP foam?

IXPP foam has a maximum long-term service temperature of 120°C with good dimensional stability up to 130°C and low thermal shrinking rate, making it suitable for hot water pipes, engine compartments, and 90-120°C heat carrier battery insulation.

Q4: Can IXPP foam be thermoformed or vacuum formed?

Yes. IXPP foam has superior processing performance and can be compounded, die-cut, thermoformed, and vacuum-formed. It also offers good thermal weldability, making it easy to fabricate into complex duct, panel, and enclosure shapes.

Q5: Does IXPP foam prevent condensation on cold ducts?

Yes. With a closed cell rate over 98% and water vapor transmission rate < 0.05 g/(m²·24h), IXPP foam effectively blocks moisture vapor and prevents condensation, frost, and mold formation on chilled water lines and cold air ducts.

Q6: How does IXPP foam differ from IXPE foam?

While IXPE foam is based on polyethylene, IXPP foam is made from polypropylene, providing higher rigidity and heat resistance. IXPP foam also has lower odor than PE foam and offers better chemical resistance and dimensional stability at elevated temperatures.

Q7: Is IXPP foam suitable for EV battery insulation?

Yes. IXPP foam can be used as thermal insulation material for 90-120°C heat carrier cycle batteries and as engine room heat insulation material. Its excellent fatigue resistance and energy absorption make it ideal for vibration damping and protection in electric vehicles.

Q8: Is IXPP foam environmentally friendly?

IXPP foam is non-toxic, low-odor, and safe for consumer use. It is not biodegradable, so proper recycling or disposal is recommended. Our production process follows ISO 9001:2015, RoHS and REACH compliance to minimize environmental impact.

Q9: Can IXPP foam be customized?

Yes. IXPP foam can be manufactured in various expansion ratios (5-30x), densities (30-200 kg/m³), thicknesses (0.5-100mm), colors, and surface textures. It can also be laminated, die-cut, or shaped to meet specific HVAC and industrial requirements.
